College football player Luke Knox dies suddenly at 22

With new news, the college football world is mourning the loss of FIU linebacker Luke Knox, who died suddenly at the age of 22, the school announced.

Luke Knox began his college football career at Ole Miss and as a freshman, he made a total of 10 tackles, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

After two seasons at linebacker, Knox moved into a tight end position before switching back to linebacker in the 2021 football season; Knox was transferred from Ole Miss to the Florida International during the 2022 off-season.

FIU head coach Mike McIntyre remembered Knox in a statement: Words cannot express the sadness we are saddened by the passing of our teammate and friend Luke Knox.

Luke had the honor of coaching at Ole Miss and FIU and I admired his passion for football after which his true love for his family and teammates is something I will always remember.

He had a special way of making everyone around him feel comfortable and it was also revealed that Knox was the younger brother of Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox.

Sean McDermott paid tribute to the Knox family, saying, “Our hearts are with Dawson and his family and we are with him and his family in their support.”
